Abstract
We demonstrate optical trapping of gold particles by use of single-beam gradient force. It is found that the radiation force exerted upon a gold particle can point toward the focus of the incident beam in two dimensions. Computations of the radiation force exerted upon a gold particle are also carried out to examine this phenomenon. Keywords
