Nitrite Test Strips for Detection of Nitrate Reduction by Mycobacteria

Abstract

A reagent-impregnated paper strip for the detection of nitrite production by mycobacteria is described. As a screening test for the classification of mycobacteria, the nitrite test strip technic is as sensitive as the standard broth method. Long shelf-life, semiquantitative results, and simplicity of performance enhance its value as a clinical laboratory procedure.
