Abstract
The spore-forming ability of S. inulinus whose sporulation rate was usually only 10-4-10-6 in a population may be improved by a medium in which sporulation takes place reproducibly at the rate of 1%. From cells grown in the sporulation medium, clean spores were separated and the following features characteristic of spores of Bacillaceae demonstrated: spores could tolerate heat treatment at 80[degree] for 10 min.,an electron micrographic profile of the section of the spores was characteristic of bacterial spores and they contained dipicolinic acid at a concentration of 5.16% dry weight. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
