Pea Aphid Control Experiments in Oregon

Abstract
Both sprays and dusts were used from 1936 to 1938 incl. on trellis peas grown in the coastal area. Satisfactory control was obtained with a spray containing rotenone 1 part in 10,000, wetting agent (Aresket 241), 1 part in 660, and fish oil soap 1 part in 440 applied at 300 gal. per acre. Insecticides applied in a dust form in 1937 and 1938 included nicotine, rotenone, and Loro. A dust containing rotenone 0.75% and vegetable oil, 4% gave the most satisfactory control. Loro produced a good kill but caused slight burn. The control obtained with rotenone plus a wetting agent was inferior to that obtained with rotenone plus oil or Loro. Nicotine was also inferior.
