Histochemical Demonstration of Liver Glycogen in Human Diabetic Acidosis by Liver Biopsy

Abstract

Serial liver biopsy specimens obtained with the Silverman needle from a patient under treatment for severe diabetic acidosis were studied by the Gomori histochemical technic for glycogen. Before treatment, severe glycogen depletion was found. As treatment progressed, glycogen was restored within a few hrs. Correlations of histochemical and quantita -tive analysis for glycogen are being developed.
