Sectoral patch antenna embedded with arc shape slots and slits for circular polarized response

Abstract
Design of circularly polarized antenna by embedding arc shape slots and rectangular slits on the perimeter of Sectoral patch is reported. In reported work, detailed resonant mode explanation for circular polarized response by highlighting the use of arc shape slot, vertical rectangular slit, is not provided. In present work here, detailed study for to explain circular polarized response in Sectoral patch is outlined. It is shown that offset position of coaxial feed point, arc shape slots and vertical slits, optimizes frequency spacing and impedance magnitudes at first order dual orthogonal modes of the patch that yields circular polarization. Further it is shown in present study that circular polarized response can be realized without using arc slots and slits, and it offers wider axial ratio bandwidth. Thus, proposed work will provide deeper understanding of how the circular polarized response is obtained in non-regular shape patch antennas, and also this insight will lead to design procedure by subsequently proposing design formulations.
