Abstract
Automatic symbolic traffic scene analysis is essentialto many areas of IVHS (Intelligent Vehicle HighwaySystems). Traffic scene information can be usedto optimize traffic flow during busy periods, identifystalled vehicles and accidents, and aid the decisionmakingof an autonomous vehicle controller. Improvementsin technologies for machine vision-based surveillanceand high-level symbolic reasoning have enabledus to develop a system for detailed, reliable traffic sceneanalysis. The...Keywords
