Lipid Synthesis by Ascites Tumor Cells.

Abstract
Ehrlich ascites tumor cells were incubated in as-citic fluid with albumin-palmitate-1-C14 complex and were then washed and incubated for 0, 10, 20, 30 and 60 minutes with fresh media. Lipids of both cells and media were extracted, separated by chroma-tography on silicic acid, and counted. Results indicate a decrease of cell-free fatty acid with increases in all other lipids, especially trigly-ceride. The major lipid synthesized was phospholipid, which, however, declined after 30 minutes. Only phospholipid was released into the medium to any extent.
