Critical Exponentβand Rectilinear Diameter of the Binary-Liquid System Carbon Disulfide + Nitromethane

Abstract

The system C${\mathrm{S}}_2$ + C${\mathrm{H}}_3$N${\mathrm{O}}_2$ shows $\beta =0.315\mathrm{}\pm 0.004$ over ${10}^{-6\mathrm{}}<\epsilon =\frac{|T-T_c|}{T_c}<2\mathrm{}\times {10}^{-1\mathrm{}}$ with no indication of a classical value ½ even far away from $T_c$. The diameter shows a curvature and is of the form ${\varphi }_c+b\epsilon +f{\epsilon }^{\frac{7}{8}}\exp (-g{\epsilon }^h)$.
