Abstract
The nuclear magnetic dipole and electric quadrupole moments of Pm147 have been derived from an analysis of the optical hyperfine structure of singly ionized Pm147. The hyperfine constants for the [4f5H526, 6s]2 ground state are A=10.24±0.20 mK; B=10.6±2.6 mK. By using the known atomic-beam data for the [4f56s2H726] state of neutral Pm to determine the contribution of the [4f5H526] core to the observed magnetic-splitting factor, the splitting factor of the 6s electron was found to be a6s=+214.2±4.9 mK. The nuclear moments deduced from the hyperfine constants are μI(Pm147)=+2.58±0.07 nm and Q(Pm147)=+0.74±0.20 b.
