Orbital Susceptibilities of Transition Metals

Abstract
The information on the magnitude of the orbital contribution χorb to the magnetic susceptibilities of the transition metals which may be deduced from experimental data is briefly reviewed. Results of a calculation of χorb as a function of Fermi energy are given for electrons in (i) an fcc d band based on the tight‐binding calculation of Fletcher and (ii) an interpolated bcc d band obtained from Wood's APW calculation for iron.
