Spin Correlations inp¯p→Λ¯Λat 2.19 GeV/c

Abstract

Large spin correlations between $\Lambda$ and $\overline{\Lambda }$ hyperons have been observed in the reaction $\overline{p}p\to \overline{\Lambda }\Lambda$, and they are very similar to the ones obtained by Badier et al. at 2.5 GeV/c. The correlation along the hyperon flight direction in the c.m. system is found to be -0.96±0.44, which suggests that the hyperons are strongly in the spin triplet state. We have made an analysis of the differential cross section and spin correlations in terms of the $O(3, 1)$ model. The result appears to be very encouraging.
