Abstract
Parity violation in the scattering of polarised thermal neutrons near a resonance is studied in the framework of the distorted-wave Born approximation. The authors show that the rotation angle phi is enhanced near a p-wave resonance. The possibility of a s-wave shape 'resonance' is also considered and they show that this case is not worth exploiting from the experimental point of view. The numerical examples are given, although derived in the context of a simple model, are typical of a realistic situation like the one offered by 124Sn.Keywords
