The Pigments of Butterflies' Wings

Abstract
A small quantity of a yellow crystalline pigment has been isolated from the wings of Melanargia galatea, the marbled white butterfly. It gave a melting point of 253[degree] and molecular weight (by Rast''s method) of roughly 313, and showed all the properties of a flavone or fiavonol. Melanin and traces of lipochromes are also present in these wings.
