Abstract
The magnitude and wave-form of atmospherics within 100 km of the-source have been calculated on the basis of existing information on the lightning discharge. Particular attention is paid to the variation with distance of the wave-form associated with the return stroke. This variation shows several characteristics of interest. A direct comparison is made between the theoretical results and the experimental observations made on near atmospheric wave-forms.
