Radioimmunoassay for Human Luteinizing Hormone.

Abstract
Purified human pituitary luteinizing hormone (LH) was used for the development of antibodies, for radioiodination and for standards. Good correlations were seen between biological and immunological potency estimates of human pituitary extracts varying greatly in their LH and FSH contents. Dilutions of post menopausal serum gave a dose-response slope parallel to that of the standard. LH added to postmeno-pausal serum was recovered quantitatively. Differences were observed in serum LH concentrations between normal adults and post menopausal women. Cyclic variation was noted in the normally menstruating women and the presence of LH in the serum of prepubertal children was also confirmed.
