The effect of electroconvulsive shock on retention of a modified "one-trial" conditioned avoidance.

Abstract
"A single ECS disrupted the retention of a modified 'one-trial' conditioned avoidance up to learning-ECS intervals of 60 min. This disruption was compared with the deleterious effects of pentylenetetrazol induced convulsions on retention of a similar conditioned avoidance after several days. Effects of ECS (as well as insulin) on other types of learning were also noted. It was pointed out that different disruptive procedures may act differentially on the retention of similar learning situations and that different learning situations may be differentially affected by the same disruptive procedures."
