Aconitase Activity of Human Leukocytes

Abstract
Using a modification of Racker''s procedure, the aconitase activity of separated human leukocytes was determined in leukemia, polycythemia, infectious mononucleosis, lymphoma, iron deficiency anemia, and other hematologic disorders. Most blast cells have significantly greater aconitase activity than mature cells. The lymphocytes of chronic lymphatic leukemia have decreased aconitase activity. In iron deficiency anemia the activity is normal.
