Quality of Medical Care in an Outpatient Setting

Abstract
This paper reviews research on quality of care in an outpatient setting that was reported in the literature through 1970. These studies are summarized and arranged in a typology by conceptual emphasis, agent, source of standards, source of data, research design and unit of analysis, and the ways quality of care was conceptualized and measured in three types of settings—group practices, private practices, and medical schools—are discussed.
