Abstract
Amplification Constant of a Weagant Thermionic Vacuum Tube.—This tube has the control electrode on the outside and because of the presence of the glass wall, amplification is not possible for constant grid potentials. By making some simplifying assumptions, the author is able to develop a theoretical expression for the amplification constant which involves the dimensions of the tube and the resistivity of the glass wall. When this resistivity is either very high or very low, the amplification is small; in the latter case it isshown to depend solely on the dimensions.
