Hemoglobin F Levels in Patients with Chronic Renal Failure

Abstract
The 63 patients investigated were 28-47 yr old, and included 41 males and 22 females. The majority of the patients had severe renal insufficiency caused by chronic glomerulonephritis; some had a moderate to severe anemia. Results obtained with radioimmunoassay show that the level of Hb F was not significantly increased in patients with renal failure, and thus a reactivation of .gamma. chain structural loci did not occur in this group with this chronic condition.
