Abstract
Cross sections for ionization of atomic hydrogen by singlet and triplet metastable helium atoms have been calculated. It is argued that the autoionization width corresponding to the singlet interaction, which has not been accurately calculated, is similar to the width for the triplet interaction. The results are in good agreement with recent experimental measurements. Keywords
