New sources of urease for determination of urea

Abstract
The seed of the watermelon (Citrullus vulgaris) is a potent source of urease suitable for use in urea determinations. It is superior to soya bean and jack bean for this purpose since it determines the urea quantitatively even in such materials as whole blood and liver, with which the latter give abnormal value.
