Kinetics of the Reaction of Hydrogen with Zirconium

Abstract
The rate of reaction of hydrogen with high purity zirconium was determined for the temperature range of 250° to 425°C at 1 atm pressure. The reaction was found to follow a parabolic law, and the parabolic rate constant in (ml/cm2)2 per second was calculated to be where 17,200 ± 200 cal/mole is the activation energy for the reaction.
