Abstract
A method is described for the isolation of a fairly pure granule fraction from bovine leukocytes. The preparations contained less than 5% mitochondria. Contamination by microsomes was excluded. The purity of the preparation was determined by electron microscopy and enzymatic analysis. The lyso-some-like particles contain the following hydrolase activities after destruction of the particle membrane with Triton X-100: acid phos-phatase, alkaline phosphatase, cathepsin, [beta]-glucuronidase, acetylglu-cosaminidase, acid ribonuclease, kininase and kininogenase. Lyso-somes from leukocytes of the peripheral blood contain basic peptides, which up to now have only been found in the leukocytes from exudates.
