Abstract
Whole KOH pellets are dissolved in boiling ethanol with 40 mg. of ascorbic acid per 50 ml. of soln. After cooling the reagent is filtered through a fritted glass filter and adjusted to 2.5 [image]. This reagent is purer, more stable and produces lower "blanks" than the original Callow reagent.
