Abstract
A high incidence of generalized edema occurred in vitamin E deficient chicks only when the osmotic equilibrium was disturbed by feeding a diet consisting largely of dried skimmilk or by administration of a conc. NaCl soln. In the prevention of such edema, [beta] tocopherol was about half as effective as a tocopherol. Other compounds having similar anti-oxidant properties were ineffective.
