Hydrogen Bonds Involving Sulfur. II. The Hydrogen Sulfide–Hydrosulfide Complex

Abstract

The possibility of strong hydrogen bonding of the S–H–S type is investigated in the H₂S–HS⁻ adduct, using ab initio MO LCAO SCF techniques. A variety of configurations are considered. A symmetric linear form of the adduct with a very strong hydrogen bond is found to be most stable. Some properties of this bond are discussed.
