Abstract
The cooperative Jahn-Teller effect in systems containing octahedrally coordinated ions with the Eg electronic ground state is discussed. The analysis of the energy of interacting Jahn-Teller distortions shows that in some cases a complex configuration, which may be classified neither like ferro- nor like antiferroelastic ordering represents a stable state. As an example, the system with BCC symmetry is considered.
