Energy Levels ofBe9

Abstract

Magnetic analysis of the alpha-particle groups from the deuteron bombardment of boron and of the proton groups from the proton bombardment of beryllium confirms previous work indicating the existence of levels in ${\mathrm{Be}}^9$ at 2.43 and 3.04 Mev. The energy of the edge of a broad distribution at 1.664-Mev excitation is taken to indicate that it arises from a three-body reaction; the shape of the edge indicates the influence of the ${\mathrm{Be}}^8$—$n$ interaction.
