A Clinical Stain for Use in Selecting Biopsy Sites in Patients with Vulvar Disease

Abstract
K preliminary report on a clinical stain for use in selecting biopsy sites on patients with vulvar disease is presented. Of 242 patients stained, 36 exhibited positive stains and, of these, 19 had cancer. Thirteen of the 17 false positives were associated with inflammatory lesions. There were no false negative stains. Definite lesions, tumor or ulcei, should be biopsied, but with generalized change toluidine blue is helpful in selecting the biopsy site.
