Morphology and Hatching Power of the Developing Chick Embryo Following X-Irradiation.

Abstract
Summary Single dose, whole body X-irradiation of Single Comb White Leghorn embryos from 0 through 13 days of development resulted in an increased incidence of morphological abnormalities similar to those commonly observed among embryos of the domestic fowl. The two highest doses, 200 and 300 r above the previously determined LD50, were responsible for the majority of the abnormalities which included midgets, foot and leg deformities and abnormal mandibles. Hatching percentage of treated embryos decreased as the dose increased; no apparent relationship existed between hatching weight and dose received.
