Abstract
Case histories of 120 patients dying of renal failure were reviewed. This group consisted of 50 chronic glomerulone-phritis, 50 arteriolar-nephrosclerosis, and 20 chronic pyelonephritis post mortem diagnoses. In this series the nephrotic phase was the concomitant occurrence of edema, hypercholes-terolemia, hypoproteinemia and a marked proteinuria. The nephrotic phase was shown to be a useful diagnostic factor in the diagnosis of the cause of renal failure. Keywords
