Abstract
Admn. of massive doses of a growth-promoting fraction of anterior pituitary failed to counteract the growth retardation of immature rats under conditions of low environmental temp. A significant difference was observed in the effects of "growth hormone" admn. between animals maintained under cold room (2[degree]C) and room temp. (23[degree]C) conditions. "Growth hormone" was without effect on the gain in body wt. of immature rats under cold room conditions, whereas it augmented the wt. increment of animals maintained at room temp.
