Coccospora agricola Goddard, Its Specific Status, Relationships, and Cellulolytic Activity

Abstract
The sp. is re-established; it is characterized by large, globose, colorless spores with walls unusually thickened and by strong cellulose-decomposing ability. A close relationship with Traaen''s genus Humicola, and with Monotospora lanuginosa is indicated. All strains of C. agricola, H. fuscoatra and H. grisea are strongly cellulolytic, while in M. lanuginosa such activity is lacking.
