Abstract
All input devices for interactive computer graphics can be effectively modelled in programs by a small number of virtual input devices. By specifying an appropriate set of such virtual devices, the semantics of interactive input can be defined independently of the physical form of the devices. In the service of program portability, human factors adaptability, economy, and maximal use of terminal capability, a sufficient set of virtual devices is described. Keywords
