Laboratory Studies on the Toxicity of Thirteen Insecticides to the Tobacco Hornworm1

Abstract

Laboratory studies were conducted on the insecticides as contact and stomach poisons against 3 sizes of larvae of Protoparce sexta. As contact poisons the order of toxicity was in general as follows: endrin, parathion, isodrin, lindane, malathion = dieldrin = aldrin = Toxaphene, heptachlor, Q-137, CS-708, TDE, and DDT. As stomach poisons, the order of toxicity was as follows: endrin, parathion, isodrin, lindane, Toxaphene, malathion, CS-708, TDE, Q-137, and DDT.
