Superconductivity in Layered Compounds with Variable Interlayer Spacings

Abstract
The superconducting heat-capacity anomaly of intercalated Ta compounds is independent of the spacing between the Ta layers when the spacing is varied between 3 and 30 Å. We conclude that the entropy associated with the anomaly arises mainly from two-dimensional correlations.
