Mobile Coronary Care — A Controversial Innovation

The concept of the mobile coronary-care unit (MCCU) is currently receiving a great deal of attention.1 2 3 4 Pantridge, in Belfast, Ireland, first reported his experience in 1966.1 Approximately two years later, Grace, from St. Vincent's Hospital, organized a similar unit in New York City. At least three other projects funded by the Regional Medical Programs are in various stages of development.
