CATALASE ACTIVITY IN ESCHERICHIA COLI

Abstract
E. coli. strain B/r, is more resistant to the toxic effects of nutrient substrates which have been irradiated with u.-v. light or treated with H2O2 than is the parent organism, E. coli, strain B. The B/r strain also has a higher catalase activity than strain B, which could explain this increased resistance. The catalase activity cannot explain the other characteristics of this organism.
