Abstract
An unusual delayed emission is reported for solutions of 5,6,11,12‐tetraphenyltetracene (rubrene). The first triplet state of rubrene can be populated by sensitization with biacetyl or benzophenone. In flash‐photolysis studies of the properties of this state, an anomalous emission was observed. The anomalous emission is interpreted as triplet→triplet fluorescence within the triplet manifold of rubrene. Various data in support of this emission mechanism are presented. Keywords
