Abstract
ESR-studies on irradiated single crystals of adenosine hydrochloride, deoxyadenosine monohydrate and deoxyguanosine hydrochloride demonstrate clearly the formation of 7,8-dihydro-adenyl (guanyl) - (7) -radicals to be a major consequence of irradiation. This species shows a characteristic triplett spectrum and is formed by addition of one atom of hydrogen at the position C(8) of the purine base.
