The Effect of Cysteine on Streptomycin and Streptothricin

Abstract
Histamine, amyl nitrite, 10% CO2 and nico-tinic acid were each repeatedly administered for 2 wks. to 7 patients with trigeminal neuralgia who had "trigger areas" of pain. These areas were stimulated during treatment. At least 1 of the 4 drugs in a few mins. decreased the intensity and duration of the pain in all patients. Placebos had no effect. The attacks appear to result from paroxysmal ischemia of trigeminal structures.
