Abstract
The application of the simple network management protocol (SNMP) to the management of high-speed networks is described including systems based on the fiber distributed data interface (FDDI), switched multimegabit data service (SMDS), T1, and T3. A brief introduction to SNMP is given and the related standards are discussed for the structure of management information (SMI) and the management information base (MIB). An application of SNMP to FDDI is discussed, and the future of SNMP in high-speed networks is addressed Author(s) Case, J.D. SNMP Res. Knoxville, TN, USAKeywords
