Abstract
19 bands of the fifth positive system of nitrogen have been photographed in the second and third orders of a 21‐foot grating spectrograph. Vibrational and rotational analyses gave the following results: (1) x 1Σgstate: Be=1.750 , αe=0.0225 , De=6×10−6 , Te=a+45284.7 , ωe=1910 , ωexe=20.7 , re=1.168 A. (2) a′1Σustate: Be=1.480 , αe=0.0164 , De=6×10−6 , Te=a , ωe=1530 , ωexe=12.0 , ωeye=0.033 , re=1.270 A. An anomalous intensity distribution in the v′=0 bands was observed.
