The guinea pig in a run-way

Abstract
Guinea pigs were used as experimental animals for 3 experiments in a run‐way. Experiment 1 was terminated because the guinea pigs did not reach a criterion easily satisfied by rats. Experiment 2 gave 14 days adaptation and showed an improvement over 4 days of massed trials. In experiment 3 animals given goal‐box placement learned faster than those without preliminary training. Guinea pigs require adaptation training, the opportunity to develop consummatory behaviour and a supplemented diet.
