Abstract
Media were devised for the cultivation and isolation of the etiological agent of kidney disease in salmon and trout. It is noteworthy that growth occurs readily on addition of cysteine to complex blood media, which otherwise do not support growth. Koch''s postulates have been fulfilled establishing that the organism isolated is the etiological agent of the disease. On the basis of present information, the organism may be considered a species of Corynebacterium. Keywords
