Abstract
To the Editor: We have previously reported our finding of an association between human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) viremia and an initially low T helper-cell count or constitutional symptoms and progression to the acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in 24 seropositive homosexual men; these subjects are members of a cohort of men with the HIV-associated lymphadenopathy syndrome.1 We have extended our findings to 71 of the 75 seropositive cohort members, including 14 of the 16 with progression to AIDS. For most (48) of these men, cultures were performed only once. Lymphocytes were cultured for HIV and screened for reverse transcriptase activity, as . . .Keywords
