Abstract
Blood or plasma circulated through an oxygenator with a blood-gas interface becomes increasingly toxic as a function of time. The toxic factor appears to be contained in the plasma and is assumed to be a product of protein denaturation. Interposition of a Teflon membrane between blood and gas prevents the accumulation of toxin. Keywords
