AUTORADIOGRAPHIC OBSERVATIONS ON THE UPTAKE OF S35 IN THE GENITAL ORGANS OF THE FEMALE RAT AND RABBIT AFTER INJECTION OF LABELED SODIUM SULFATE

Abstract

Five mature rats and 1 mature rabbit were injd. with Na2S35O4 and radio-autographs of the ovary, oviduct, uterus and vagina were prepared after 48 hrs. In the ovaries, the granulosa and, especially, the follicular fluid contained large amts. of S35. In the oviduct, S35 accumulated in the mucus-producing portions. Estrogenic stimulation caused accumulation of S35 in endometrial stroma and vaginal submucosa. Part of the S35 was probably in the form of ester-bound-SO4, but inorganic SO4 was also detd. at the same time by the method.used.
